KCP&L wins 11.7 percent rate increase for its Kansas City customers

Monthly bills will be going up around $10 for about half of Kansas City Power & Light’s Missouri customers. The utility got about three-fourths of what it had requested from the Public Service Commission, mainly to recover costs for pollution control at its La Cygne coal-fired plant, improvements at its Wolf Creek nuclear power plant, and rising transmission expenses.
