Former St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation board fights changes in board, use of funds

Ascension/Carondelet Health has ousted the former St. Joseph Medical Center Foundation board and replaced it with company appointees. Former board members are appealing to the Missouri Attorney General to try to maintain some control over what happens to about $20 million in foundation assets. Donors gave the funds to support the hospital, which now is owned by Prime Healthcare. But the foundation’s assets weren't included in the sale and remained with Ascension/Carondelet.

Home construction in KC area picks up

The Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City reported 260 single-family permits were issued in the eight-county area last month, up from 216 permits in February 2014, and 235 issued this January.
