A malfunctioning siren woke and confused many Overland Park residents overnight.
Overland Park police dispatchers were flooded with calls after the outdoor warning siren at 80th Street and Overland Park Drive began wailing shortly before midnight Saturday, even though there was no threatening weather.
City workers shut down the siren and were working to resolve its problems, according to a statement from Johnson County Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
