The second of two men who burglarized the homes of people attending funerals was convicted by a Platte County judge Friday.
Dane S. Johnson, 35, of Kansas City was convicted of five counts each of burglary and stealing. He faces up to 78 years in prison.
According to authorities, Johnson and Landon N. Prothro, 32, were responsible for a string of home break-ins in late 2005 and early 2006. Johnson admitted he used real estate listings and obituaries to pick out their targets.
Prothro pled guilty to charges in August, 2006, and was sentenced to 28 years in prison.
Another co-defendant, 32-year-old Kansas Citian Stephanie Riddle, is awaiting trial on charges of receiving stolen property from the burglars at her Riverside store.
Johnson is scheduled to be sentenced July 17.
