A mom from northeastern Kansas is in the running for America’s Favorite Mom, and today is the day to vote for her.
Jennifer Keller of Home, Kan., is among 15 finalists for the honor, which will be awarded in an NBC primetime special Sunday night. The contest is sponsored by NBC and Teleflora.
The contest is broken up into five categories: military mom, working mom, single mom, non-mom mom and COE (Chairman of Everything) mom. Keller is one of the three finalists in the non-mom category with voting open until 6 p.m. today at www.nbc.com/Americas_Favorite_Mom/about/.
Keller’s husband nominated her for the honor. The couple has seven children, six of them adopted within the past four years. Four of those adoptive children were exposed to methamphetamine while in the womb or tested positive for the drug when they were born. The other two adoptive children (who are siblings) became a part of the Keller family when they were 3 and 5. They had been exposed to an environment where methamphetamine was manufactured, according to the nbc.com website.
The winner in each category will appear on Sunday’s “America’s Favorite Mom” one-hour Mother’s Day special. At the end of the show, one mom will be crowned and win thousands of dollars in cash and prizes, including an 18 carat gold, heart-shaped pendant trimmed with diamonds.
Donny and Marie Osmond will crown the winner.
