Lenexa City Council member dies

Lenexa City Council member John T. Ramsey Jr., 58, died Saturday. Ramsey served as a Ward 1 council member for 14 years.

Lenexa Mayor Mike Boehm said the city was mourning Ramsey’s death.

“We are saddened by the news of John’s passing,” said Roehm. “Lenexa has lost a dear friend and great public servant who cared deeply for our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with John’s family.”

Ramsey was born Jan. 21, 1951, in Kansas City, Kan., and moved to Lenexa in 1986. He received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Missouri.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa. Friends The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
