The Kansas City Star, beginning today, will be one of the printers of the Midwest edition of The Wall Street Journal.

The edition will be delivered to Kansas and Missouri residents.

“We’re excited to bring production of The Wall Street Journal to Kansas City,” said Star publisher Mark Zieman. “It’s great to work with a world-class company that shares our passion for newspapers.”

Zieman said The Star was awarded a five-year contract to print and distribute copies of The Journal.

The Star opened its $199 million production facility in 2006. Since then, the newspaper has signed more than 25 commercial printing agreements.

Publications printed by The Star include the Pitch Weekly, the Riverfront Times of St. Louis and the City Weekly of Omaha.

The Star has been delivering The Journal to area readers for five years.
