Police search for burglar who shot resident in KC

Kansas City police continued to look for an armed burglar who shot a resident in the abdomen early Saturday after a break-in.

The 32-year-old victim told police he awakened about 3:10 a.m. Saturday and heard someone breaking through his front door in the 1800 block of East 55th Street. He saw a man standing in his kitchen who pointed a gun at him and told him to get on the floor. The victim did not get on the floor and the suspect shot him. The suspect then said something to the effect of, “Check yourself, fool.”

The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.
