A man is in critical condition tonight after a Kansas City police officer shot him in the chest.
The 20-year-old man walked onto his porch at East 7th Street and Spruce Avenue holding a shotgun pointed upward. As he began to lower the shotgun, one of two officers in front of his house fired one shot, according to Officer Darin Snapp of the Kansas City Police Department.
Police had gone to the man’s house around 7 p.m. because they suspected he was involved in a shootout a couple of hours before in the 5200 block of Scarritt Avenue.
The man also was wanted on two felony drug warrants and one concealed weapon warrant, Snapp said.
