Johnson County gave out 1,776 free H1N1 vaccinations today, health officials said this afternoon.
In the morning, even hours before the clinic opened about 9 a.m., hundreds of people waited in line at the Northeast Offices complex at 6000 Lamar Ave. in Mission.
The lines ceased before the event ended at 3 p.m. and the clinic did not use all 2,400 doses of vaccine it had.
The remaining doses will be available for free to county residents starting Monday morning at the county health office in Olathe, health officials said. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. The office is at 11875 S. Sunset Drive, Suite 300, north of 119th Street and west of Ridgeview Road.
More doses are expected to arrive next week, but for now they will continue to be given to those at higher risk, including pregnant women, children 6 months to 4 years, caregivers of infants younger than 6 months and health care workers with direct patient contact.
