A federal judge in Kansas this week sentenced two Olathe men for their roles in an identity theft scheme, prosecutors said today.
Benito Dominguez, 47, was sentenced to 54 months and his son, Jose Dominguez, 22, to four years in prison.
Both men pleaded guilty previously to one count of aggravated identity theft and one count of making a false identification document.
Investigators raided their Olathe home in October of last year and found materials to make Social Security cards, permanent resident alien cards and drivers’ licenses, prosecutors said. Social Security numbers found there matched those being used by 26 current or former employees of Engineered Air, a manufacturing company in De Soto, they said.
Sheriff deputies and federal immigration agents arrested eight of those who had used stolen identities to obtain employment there, prosecutors said.
They said that the father and son charged about $350 for a full set of fraudulent documents that included a Social Security card and a resident alien card.
