Open house to offer glimpse of proposed I-35 interchange in southwest Johnson County

More News

The Kansas highway department tonight will give residents of southwest Johnson County a glimpse of new interchange planned for Interstate 35 between Gardner and Edgerton.

The proposed interchange is supposed to help relieve traffic congestion that would come if the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway builds a freight hub in the area.

The rail yard is on hold. It is awaiting its environmental permit as well as a request for federal stimulus money to help pay for the project.

The open house will run from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Mildale Farm, 3520 W. 199th St. in Edgerton.
