An illegal immigrant who shopped area gun shows for weapons that were to be shipped to Mexico pleaded guilty today to illegally possessing a firearm.
Mynor Guerra, 25, a Guatemalan citizen who was living in Overland Park, was arrested at a Kansas City gun show in June by federal agents who confiscated two AR-15 semi-automatic rifles from the trunk of his car. He had a phony Missouri driver’s license and used a fake Social Security number, according to federal prosecutors.
Guerra admitted Wednesday during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Kansas City that he had purchased weapons at gun shows and sold them to another person who delivered them to Mexico.
As part of a plea agreement, prosecutors and the defense will recommend a prison sentence of four years and nine months.
