Missouri postmaster avoids prison in fraud case

A fill-in postmaster in a small northwest Missouri town was sentenced to probation today for fraudulently issuing money orders to pay her personal bills.

Heather B. Donahoo, 36, previously pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Kansas City. On Tuesday, she was placed on probation for three years.

Donahoo was filling in as postmaster in Rea, Mo., from May to September 2008 when she fraudulently issued nearly $4,800 in money orders.
