No. 1 getaway spot - and you're already here

Baseball fans pouring into KC for the All-Star Game will learn what frequent visitors have always known. A Travel & Leisure survey of readers identified Kansas City as the best U.S. city for affordable getaways, citing the reasonable price for good eats, plus freebies like the Boulevard Brewery tour.

From the report, found on weather.com: "So what makes a city a great value? Reasonably priced hotels and restaurants, certainly, as well as enticements such as budget-friendly theater tickets, free museums, or low gas prices. The survey's winner, Kansas City, has an average nightly hotel rate of about $100 and also won the T+L survey for cheap, mouthwatering barbecue."
