The vowels — a club whose set is fixed,
Where A and E and I are mixed
With O and U — the fabled five;
So dare not ask to join their hive.
But comes along the letter Y
Which deigns that very task to try;
Chagrined, the five recoil, aghast,
To think another letter asks!
(hear these letters howl);
“No word exists without a vowel!”
The letter Y had answer dry;
The question posed by upstart:“Why?”
