The Baptist Center for Ethics has named Central Baptist Seminary President Molly T. Marshall its 2015 Baptist of the Year.
An article about the honor in EthicsDaily.com cited Marshall’s leadership with word, institutional investment and global presence. Evidence of her efforts included her recent challenge to anti-immigrant refugee rhetoric, renewal of the Shawnee seminary’s partnership with the Myanmar Institute of Theology, her support for care of the Earth, her respect for the lived religion of others and her continued opposition to gender discrimination.
About the honor, Marshall said, “I am deeply humbled by this recognition and am grateful for the attention this award draws to important contemporary issues such as interfaith relations, gender equality, and justice for immigrants.”
Baptist Center for Ethics in Nashville, Tenn., has presented the award for more than 10 years. It is announced at the end of each calendar year.
