A Southern California woman claims she was fired after being forced to take on-the-job Scientology classes.
City News Service says Annie R. Lee filed a lawsuit this week against Pasadena-based Lusida Rubber Products and two company executives.
Lee says a month after she was hired as a customer service representative last year, the company began requiring employees to attend 30-minute classes based on Scientology teachings. She says the classes eventually were held almost daily and that one executive repeatedly urged her to denounce her existing religious beliefs.
The suit contends that Lee and other employees who complained were fired and most were replaced with members of the Church of Scientology.
Lee alleges wrongful termination, religious discrimination and harassment.
One executive, Wayne Chin, declined to comment on advice of his attorney.
