When is it safe to plant elephant ear bulbs in the KC area? Thank you, Cindy

Answers:

Elephant ears can be planted as soon as all danger of frost is gone, and the soil temperature is above 45 degrees. You are good to go. - Carole- Johnson County Extension Master Gardener

Cindy,

When the average temp is greater than 45 degrees with no chance of frost it should be OK. Since it is May already and we are past the last average frost date, go ahead and plant. - Randy K., Extension volunteer
