Limestone Pizza opens in Lawrence

After a soft opening last weekend, Limestone Pizza + Kitchen + Bar is now open at 814 Massachusetts St. The pizzeria serves Neopolitan-style pizza made with local ingredients and baked in a wood-fired limestone and clay brick oven.

Curator’s note: Ryan Brazeal is the chef/owner of Novel, a farm-to-table restaurant on the West Side. Brazeal recently delivered the following address during the Middle of the Map’s Forum, which included a panel focusing on local artisanal foods. Cascone’s Grill North now open at 6427 N. Cosby

Frank Cascone, whose family has owned and operated a River Market restaurant since the mid-1950s, is the owner and operator of the new restaurant in the Picture Hills Shopping Center at 6427 N. Cosby. Marty’s Bar-B-Q had previously operated in the space.

Martin City Brewing Company taps into the craft beer movement

In case you haven’t noticed, the craft brewing movement in Kansas City is hot, hot, hot. I recently headed out to Martin City recently to get acquainted with their new microbrews.
