It didn’t take long for the Food Network’s Alton Brown to discover Little Piggy, Kansas City’s first chef-driven food truck hub.
Brown, who is in town for a performance of “Eat Your Science,” his traveling show, tonight at the Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland, spied Ethel, a 35-foot 1953 Spartan Aircraft Trailercoach, sitting at 3014 Southwest Blvd. and had to stop.
After ordering everything on the menu at Red Wattle, a South American nose-to-tail barbecued meats concept by chef Michael Foust of the Farmhouse in River Market, Brown taste-tested a handsome pork sandwich on ciabatta for viewers.
“I know that’s wrong,” he says of his lack of restraint, “but it’s the only way to be sure.”
Never miss a local story.
After a bite he grabbed for a napkin and managed an “Oh, my!”
Brown’s Facebook video includes the caption: “Sometimes on the road of life you just have to turn around. ABRoadEatsKCM.”
