, a popular limited release beer from Boulevard Brewing Company’s Smokestack Series, starts hitting local bar taps Monday and store shelves on Tuesday.
The dry-hopped beer is loosely based on the Kansas City brewery’s Tank 7 farmhouse ale. Saison-Brett is bottle conditioned with wild Brettanomyces yeast that imparts a spicy, earthy flavor. The beer is aged for three months before its release, but according to Boulevard, further “cellaring” will enhance the earthy flavor of the wild yeast.
Saison Brett is one of Boulevard’s most popular limited releases. The beer has a 100 percent score onratebeer.com and a 96 percent (world-class) rating on Beer Advocate
In the next couple weeks Boulevard will switch up the experimental “tasting room beers” in itsSample Twelve packs
for spring. Mid-Coast IPA and Westside Rye will be replaced by a traditional ESB, or Extra Special Bitter and Ginger-Lemon Radler, made by adding lemon and ginger juice to Unfiltered Wheat. The two new brews will also be available in the brewery’s taproom.
Regular Unfiltered Wheat and Single-Wide IPA will round out the new Sample Twelve packs.
Next up in the Smokestack Series: Love Child No. 4, a funky barrel-aged sour beer, should be out later this month or early in June.
