Today is Chow Town’s first birthday!

The Star’s food blog,, was launched as a place for readers to get a daily diet of food and drink news from The Star’s top journalists and a hungry community of experts, including chefs, cookbook authors, an iconic barbecue guru, a certified cheese professional, a master sommelier, a cocktail columnist and a beer enthusiast.

The blog has been a success, and to celebrate, many of these bloggers will be on hand at The Star’s Food Truck Friday to chow down on inventive street eats and rub elbows with readers and fans from 5 to 8 p.m. in our parking lot at 18th and McGee streets.

Come share ways to use dandelion greens with personal chef Tyler Fox. Quiz chef Renee Kelly about her recent butter tasting. Chat with Lincoln Broadbooks about the differences between a cheese maker and a cheese monger.

You’ll also get a chance to tell us what you’d like to see use cover over the next year.
