Park Place

, a walkable development at the intersection of 117th and Nall in Leawood, has become a restaurant destination in recent years.

Aaron Sanchez, the celebrity chef from Food Network’s Chopped, opened

Mestizo on a corner in Park Place, which is also home to 801 Chophouse, its seafood-centric sister restaurant 801 Fish, RA Sushi, Pig Finch, Ingredient and Carma

, a neighborhood Italian bistro.

Park Place also boasts shops that sell cupcakes (

Cupcake A La Mode), coffee ( Parisi Cafe), tea ( T. Loft) and gelato ( Paciugo Gelato

).

On Saturday, you can sample food from all of these places at Taste of Park Place.

Tickets to the event (which is from 2-4 p.m.) cost $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Proceeds benefit Newhouse

, a domestic violence shelter.

Taste of Park Place also features a sold-out “celebrity chef competition” judged by Aaron Sanchez and James Beard Award-winning chefs Michael Smith and Celina Tio. Among the competing chefs: John Smith of Pig Finch and Tate Roberts of

EBT

.
