Heirloom tomatoes, artisanal cheese and heritage pork.
Sure, these are increasingly common menu terms, but do you know what they mean for your taste buds, your wallet and the health of the environment?
Meet local chefs and farmers at Ink’s Middle of the Map Fest Forum from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday. Kansas City Star food editor Jill Wendholt Silva moderates a panel on local artisanal food featuring Alex Pope of Local Pig and Preservation Market; Jacqueline Smith of Green Dirt Farm; Ryan Brazeal of Novel; Michael Smith of Extra Virgin and Michael Smith; and Celina Tio of Julian, Collection and Belfry.
The panel is at The Star’s Press Pavilion, 1601 McGee St. For speaker bios and ticket information, go tomiddleofthemapfest.com
