Thorne-Thomsen beat dozens of top chefs from across the country to win the contest, which was decided by online votes. He was nominated in the People’s Best New Chef: Midwest category, which he won in 2013.
Ryan Brazeal ofNovel and Patrick Ryan of Port Fonda were also nominated
for People’s Best New Chef: Midwest this year.
According to Food Wine, Thorne-Thomsen, a self-taught chef, is “amazing” because “he's turning out incredible European-inspired dishes in a shopping center in suburban Kansas.”
