Three local chefs nominated for Food & Wine award

Three local chefs are in the running to become Food Wine’s People’s Best New Chef: Midwest.

Ryan Brazeal of

Novel, Patrick Ryan of Port Fonda and Carl Thorne-Thomsen of Story were nominated by the food magazine for the contest

, which will be decided by online votes. Voting starts today and ends Monday, March 31.

Thorne-Thomsen won People’s Best New Chef: Midwest last year. Ryan was nominated last year, but this is the first nomination for Brazeal, who opened Novel in Kansas City’s Westside neighborhood last summer.
