, go this week: The restaurant at 1924 Main St. is halting lunch service starting Monday, March 3.
The restaurant’s owners announced the change yesterday on Facebook with this message: “After a lot of thought, number crunching, evaluation of our business and the way we continue to grow, we have decided to stop serving lunch after this week.”
Starting Monday, The Rieger will open at 3 p.m. for a happy hour with expanded drink specials and food offerings. Some customer favorites from the lunch menu, which features an all-natural burger, avegetarian Reuben sandwich
made with smoked beets, and The Rieger’s legendary pork soup, could be included on the new happy hour menu.
The Rieger’s chef and co-owner, Howard Hanna, wasrecently named a semifinalist in the Best Chef: Midwest category of the James Beard Awards. Hanna is also working on opening a champagne bar called Ca Va
