Happy Valentine’s Day, beer lovers: Two breweries opened in Kansas City this week.
Kansas City Bier Co., 310 W. 79th St. in the Waldo neighborhood, is a 10,000-square-foot brewery and taproom specializing in German-style beers such as Hefeweizen and Dunkel. The menu features pretzels, sausages and cheese plates. Read more in Joyce Smith’s Cityscape column.
Martin City Pizza Taproom, 410 E. 135th St., opened Wednesday right betweenMartin City Brewing Co.’s brewpub and new brewery. Six locally brewed beers are on tap: Black Saison, IPA, Strong Dark Belgian, Belgian Wit, Porter and ESB. The menu features pizzas, fresh mozzarella and charcuterie plates. Read more in Smith’s 816 business column.
Both of the new breweries have outdoor beer gardens — which is one more reason we’re beyond ready for spring.
