Jasper’s, which has served lasagna and Chicken Parmigiano in Kansas City for nearly 60 years, joins three other restaurants in the Fine Dining Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013:Hot and Hot Fish Club in Birmingham, Ala., Incanto in San Francisco and Momofuku Ko
in New York City.
All four restaurants “have contributed consistently to the notion of fine dining as an art form,” according to theNRN
, a leading source of news for the foodservice industry.
Jasper’s Restaurant was founded at 75th and Wornall in 1954 by Leonardo Mirabile and Jasper Mirabile, Sr. In 1984, Jasper Mirabile, Jr. took over as executive chef of the restaurant, which has since moved to 1201 W. 103rd St.
The Italian restaurant’s location has changed, but its mouthwatering family recipes haven’t. Jasper’s Chicken Parmigiano has made a famous fan out of Paul Rudd, who recently told People that hegets his chicken parm fix at Jasper’s
when he’s visiting family in KC.
Mirabile has authored two cookbooks and is working on a third. The chef also hosts the radio show“Live! From Jasper’s Kitchen”
