Boulevard releases Rye-On-Rye and Irish Ale — Chocolate Ale’s next

Fans of Boulevard’s Smokestack Series have a reason to brave the cold today: Rye-On-Rye is back in bars. The limited release beer, last out in December 2012, hits Kansas City bar taps starting Monday and liquor store shelves starting Tuesday.

Fans of Boulevard’s Smokestack Series have a reason to brave the cold today: Rye-On-Rye

is back in bars.

The limited release beer, last out in December 2012, hits Kansas City bar taps starting today and liquor store shelves starting Tuesday.

FYI: It could take up to a week for the distributor, Central States, to deliver Rye-On-Rye to all stores.

At 12 percent alcohol by volume, Rye-On-Rye is a bold winter warmer that gets spicy sweetness from rye. The beer gets complex whiskey notes from aging in charred oak Templeton Rye whiskey barrels.

According to Boulevard, the beer pairs nicely with hearty stews, aged cheeses and pastrami sandwiches — on rye, of course.

Rye-On-Rye isn’t the only Boulevard beer out this week:

Irish Ale

, an annual spring seasonal brewed in honor of Ireland’s red ales, also hits taps today and liquor stores tomorrow.

And next month, Boulevard releases another fan favorite,

Chocolate Ale

. That beer, brewed in collaboration with Christopher Elbow, hits bar taps Monday, February 3 and liquor stores on Tuesday, February 4. Remember: Some stores won’t get their allotment until later in the week.
