In the days following the announcement, many of the Kansas City brewery’s most loyal fans experienced a roller coaster of emotions that ranged from shock, anger and sadness to acceptance and cautious optimism.
Now, Esquire magazine has a message for Boulevard fans who are still upset over what they consider the loss of their hometown brewery:Get over it.
In a post to the men’s magazine’s food blog, Eat Like a Man, Aaron Goldfarb argues that“it’s a good thing when your brewery sells out”
because that means more (good) beer for everyone.
“If I were a Kansas City local, I’d be stoked the world will soon get to try the pride of my town,” Goldfarb, a fan of Boulevard beer, writes. “And if you aren’t, I’ll gladly drink any Love Childs you’re now disgusted by.”
Goldfarb, of course, was referencing Boulevard’s Smokestack Series sour beer,which is returning in 2014
along with customer favorites Chocolate Ale and Rye-on-Rye.
Many Kansas Citiansare stoked about Boulevard’s sale to Duvel — a company that also owns Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, N.Y. — especially because the Duvel partnership has done good things for Ommegang and Cooperstown.
