Even though chef Kelli Daniels had built a stellar reputation with her popular Good You food truck, she kept her resume updated and “out there.”
Then one morning earlier this summer Daniels got a call from a casting director. A week later she was in Seymour, Conn., taping an episode ofFood Network’s “Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell.”
The show’s premise: four chefs are brought in to compete for the dream job of executive chef. The specific job in question: the executive chef ofTavern 1757
, a rustic Italian restaurant. The result: “Brick Oven Battle” airs tonight, Aug. 22, at 9 p.m.
Of course, Daniels can’t reveal who won the battle, so you’ll just have to tune in. Or, you can attend the watch party atCellar Loft
, 525 Walnut St. There will be a wine tasting from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The tasting is free for members or $10 per person; valid ID required. There will also be complimentary hors d’oeuvres. At 7:30 p.m. Daniels will meet and greet guests.
Is Daniels, who currently works as the executive chef ofElms Hotel Spa
in Excelsior Springs, nervous about her screen debut?
“What do you think?” she quips. “You’re just naked out there infront of about a million people...Most people who know me even a little know I’d rather be facing the stove with the camera looking at the back of my head.”
