Mini makeover - conclusion

More News

Note: This story originally appeared Sunday, December 4, 2005

Here is the conclusion to a mini-makeover. Do you recognize one of these challenges as your own?

Troy Lyman

Age: 27

Challenge: "The biggest challenge I face in dating is finding a girl who can deal with my work schedule." Lyman works the night shift at the Ford plant, which leaves little time for a relationship.

Free time: He has only Saturday and Sunday evenings free. How he spends his time comes down to priorities. Lyman asks: "Is it the woman, the friends or the family?"

Help!

Shift work is harder for single people than for those who are married, according to a 2004 study by the department of industrial and organizational psychology department at Xavier University in Cincinnati.

Social lives suffer when you don't fit into the 9 to 5 world.

Lyman might have the answer already. He's been talking to a fellow-graveyard shifter about building a Web site for KC singles who work nights. "There are tons of people like us who work nights who are dying to meet other people." Get right on that, Troy.

To start, Lyman wants to gather fellow night-shifters for social events. Interested? E-mail Troy Lyman at pm_people@yahoo.com.
