Get a clue, get a date

Dress for the occasion. If you are going to a sporting event, don't wear your hot high heels and miniskirt.

Be a polished version of yourself. There's something uncomfortable about a "suit guy" who shows up in jeans and a T-shirt. You want to make a good first impression, but it also should be honest. And if you're a jeans and a T kind of guy but you show up in a suit, it will show that you are uncomfortable in your own shoes.

Don't try too hard - it will show. You have enough to think about on a first date; the last thing you want is to be super aware of a strap that is falling down, uncomfortable heels or looking contrived. Let your personality come through.

The little things mean a lot. As strange as it is, women look at fingernails, hairlines and shoes. If you are wearing jeans, pair them with cool sneakers like Adidas or Tod's loafers. If you are going out to a special dinner and wearing the proper slacks, don't wear cheap shoes. And there's something really cheesy about a pair of tasseled loafers; toss them out. Give your entire outfit a cohesive look.
