•Harvest late-fall vegetables, including carrots, Swiss chard and radishes, from the garden before bitter temperatures set in.

•Winterize your vehicle. Is everything in working condition? Check the heater/defroster, lights, battery, antifreeze mixture, brakes, tire quality and pressure, wipers and wiper fluid. Schedule needed service.

•Ensure that toilets are in tip-top shape before the holidays. To test for leaks, put a few drops of dark food coloring into the tank. If you see dye in the bowl, the flapper may need adjusting or replacing.
