Hanukkah, like the Thanksgiving table, has no unusual dietary restrictions; wine is as welcome as any other beverage, so long as it is kosher wine. Kosher is a wine category once seen as only sweet, powerful and regrettable, but there are delicious kosher wines made from California to France and beyond. The only trick can be finding them in this market.
All 50 states produce wines, and at least two-thirds of them have some very good wines to offer. But whether through the mechanism of climate change, population growth or just sheer cussedness, people keep pushing to grow wines in places where conventional wisdom gave up long ago.
