Three men shot Friday night in the Northland at different locations: 1 dead, 2 hurt
One person was killed and another is in life-threatening condition following incidents that occurred about five miles and an hour apart Friday night in the Northland.
A third person suffered non-life-threatening injuries not far away and a few minutes after the second incident.
Kansas City police called it a coincidence that the incidents happened in close proximity to one another, unless further investigation indicates otherwise.
The homicide victim was found in a crashed vehicle near Barry and Marsten streets at about 8 p.m., according to Kari Thompson, a police spokeswoman.
Police did not have suspect information as of Friday night.
The man suffered from one or more gunshot wounds. He was driving a rare sports car, Thompson said.
About an hour later, another shooting victim was found at 111th and Campbell streets. That person suffered life-threatening injuries.
A third victim with non-life-threatening injuries was located by police at 102nd and Main streets minutes after the second incident. The victim, also a man, was on his motorcycle when he suffered a grazing gunshot wound to an extremity.
Thompson said there were many witnesses at the Barry and Marsten incident, "so we know somebody saw something."
She did acknowledge the possibility that the incidents are related.
"But we want to err on the side of facts," she said, "and want to wait until we have facts and we'll let you guys know as soon as we know if this is all connected."
If anyone has information on the incidents, they are urged to call the TIPS hotline 816-474-8477.
