One Park Place exudes luxury and elegance beginning with its landscaped drive past island planters and fountains. Walk inside the iconic building and you’ll find the very finest finishes and furnishings throughout. It is also where homeowners and visitors are first greeted by a concierge, welcoming them to one of the premier residential properties in town.
According to Andrew Mall, who markets the building along with Ellen Vap, few condominium properties in Kansas City offer around-the-clock, front-door service including concierge and security personnel. “Buyers appreciate having services typically reserved for a five-star hotel being made available to them in a residential setting.”
The welcoming staff at One Park Place meets and greets residents and their guests upon entering the building, but their professionalism and attention to detail doesn’t stop there. They attend to the daily needs of residents — taking receipt of deliveries, maintaining a log of daily events, monitoring people and vehicle movement in the building and observing the point-of-entry security systems to ensure peace of mind.
Both Larry Washington and Jim Harlow have decades of service experience. These men behind the concierge desk provide a personal touch to owners’ requests.
Washington joined the One Park Place team in 2013 after retiring from the Air Force. During his 33 years of service, Washington spent many years abroad as a first sergeant, responsible for the morale, welfare and conduct of more than 250 enlisted members. Described by those in the building as “a man who likes to take care of his people,” he loves his work at One Park Place so much he commutes over an hour to and from his home east of the city.
“I’ve met so many fascinating people in my time here,” he said. “One of the highlights of my job is welcoming people home, whether it’s as they return from a day at the office or a weeks-long vacation. Everyone deserves to be welcomed home with a smile.”
When he’s not behind the concierge desk at One Park Place, Washington travels around the Midwest racing his 1972 Chevrolet Vega. “When I’m racing my car, I am really focused on it. It’s actually relaxing.”
Harlow has been a familiar face at One Park Place for five years. He has over two decades of high-touch service experience in the hospitality industry, an asset to his current position.
When not at One Park Place, Harlow is active in the Kansas City music scene. A life-long vocalist and pianist, his band, Camp Harlow, has been playing rhythm and blues at the Levee for 20 years. He, too, enjoys the people and personalities who call One Park Place home.
“Knowing I can be of service to owners, and that concierge service is part of what we offer, makes this an enjoyable place,” Harlow said.
High-end amenities at One Park Place don’t end at the concierge service. The building offers 20,000 square feet of indoor amenities, including a billiards room, an extravagant temperature-controlled wine cellar with private lockers and a tasting room.
A beautifully decorated lounge, along with an elegant fireplace, enhances the sitting room and cigar parlor. All homeowners in the building have access to the media lounge equipped with flat-screen televisions, an inviting bar area, a chic demonstration kitchen and spacious party room. Year-round amenities include a virtual indoor driving range and a pet grooming room and outdoor pet playground ensure that Fido’s every need is met.
An outdoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool and barbecue area provide the perfect backdrop for summertime entertaining. An indoor saltwater lap pool, steam rooms and fitness center housing the latest in cardio and strength-training equipment make staying in shape easy. A fitness studio, complete with hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling mirrors for yoga, Pilates and other activities, is also available.
If you’ve considered purchasing at One Park Place, now is the time. With a number of move-in ready luxury condominiums available and prices beginning in the low $300,000s, this weekend is perfect for touring the furnished models featuring very distinct design styles. Each space has been designed in neutral palettes that allow homeowners to create their ideal living area. These carefully considered combinations of color, texture and finishes bring a fresh look to every home.
One Park Place offers another a distinctive advantage: a tax advantage. One Park Place has received a real estate property tax abatement that will reduce the amount of property taxes payable by approximately 90 percent, representing a substantial, bottom-line benefit for its homeowners until 2016.
