John Jamison of First Choice Custom Homes announced this week he will begin building in several Porter Communities, including the Estates of MariMack, a golf community scheduled to open next month.
“I have toured the lots and they are spectacular,” Jamison said. “Many will be suited perfectly for walkout basements and most have great views of the golf course. I feel this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity and I am very pleased to be a part of it.”
First Choice Custom Homes is already building in the Villa section of MariMack and is scheduled to start two homes in another Porter Community, Jamestowne Village, later this month.

Jamestown Village, recognized by many as the flagship residential community of Kearney, is now offering innovative new plans in a very convenient location, said Craig Porter of Porter Communities.
First Choice Custom Homes is starting construction this month on two homes in Jamestowne Village. The Hampton is a four-bedroom, 21/2-bath two-story priced in the $260,000s and the Heather II is a five-bedroom, 31/2-bath two-story priced at $299,900. All the homes offer three-car garages, custom cabinets with granite counter tops, walk-in pantries, hardwood floors, oversized living areas with fireplaces, covered decks/patios and large master suites with tile showers and walk-in closets.
Only seven lots remain in the final phase, so prospective buyers are encouraged to take advantage of all that the community has to offer, Porter said. Those purchasing a new home in Jamestowne Village will receive a free Gold Membership to the new Club at MariMack, which features a large pool with beach entry and splash pad as well as a new 3,000-square-foot clubhouse.
Villas of MariMack
The Villas of MariMack offer reasonably priced maintenance-provided homes in a golf course setting, said Porter. The Villas of MariMack are traditional detached homes, starting from the $180,000s, with very few of the challenges associated with normal homeownership.
“The homes in the community are some of the first in the area to include as standard features many universal design concepts that allow people to age in place,” Porter said. “Universal design features include wider doors along with zero (no-step) entries through the front door, the garage and in the shower in the master bathroom. These features allow the residents to ‘age in place,’ which is a feature very important to many empty-nesters and retirees.”
Standard elements incorporated into the interior design of the villas include custom-built cabinetry, wood floors, over-sized and wheelchair accessible tile showers, ceiling fans and gas fireplaces. Basements can also be finished as part of the plan to provide more living space.
Exterior design features encompass low-maintenance vinyl siding with stone and stucco facades, decks, patios and in-ground sprinkler systems. The homeowners association operates the in-ground sprinkler system and pays for the watering and care of the lawn during warmer weather. It also provides snow removal in the winter months.

With lots that back to the Club at MariMack golf course, the Estates of MariMack features traditional single-family lots in a tranquil golf community setting.
Lots in the Estate section are nearing completion and lot reservations are currently being taken.
“We expect the lots to go fast,” said Porter.
Construction on new homes in the Estates of MariMack is scheduled to begin this summer. Home prices are anticipated to be mid $200,000s to low $300,000s. Residents of the Estates of MariMack are also eligible for a free Gold Membership to the Club at MariMack.
