Thinking about a new home and haven’t found quite what you’re looking for? If so, there’s good news: Rodrock Homes is starting something new, which means your dream home may be closer than you think.
Bolstered by strong financials and a three-decade track record of building and developing in Kansas City, the company is opening brand new four-bedroom, three-car garage homes and home sites in two family-friendly Rodrock Homes’ communities: Gleason Glen and the Hills of Forest Creek.
And while Gleason Glen lies in Lenexa and the Hills of Forest Creek is in Shawnee, the two neighborhoods aren’t far from each other. They offer similar conveniences at sought-after price points, say agents and homeowners, starting with their locales.
Convenient Location. “It’s probably the number one reason people choose to live here,” said Rob Lacio of ReeceNichols about Shawnee’s Hills of Forest Creek.
Close to Interstate 435, Kansas 7 and Kansas10 highways, the Hills of Forest Creek is minutes away from most city attractions.
“It’s an amazingly quick drive from here to the airport, Legends Shopping or south Overland Park,” said Lacio, who, as co-community manager of the neighborhood, makes the drive to and from the community nearly every day.
Similarly, Lenexa’s Gleason Glen is just two minutes from Interstate 435, Kansas 7 and Kansas 10.
“Gleason Glen is happily off the beaten path, but it has quick access to anywhere in the city,” explained Gleason Glen co-community manager and ReeceNichols agent Judy Zimmerman.
Zimmerman said Gleason Glen is surprisingly quiet — almost retreat-like — and yet just minutes from major highways.
“We like to say we’re a little bit suburban, a little bit country,” she added.
DeSoto Schools. In addition to convenient locales, Gleason Glen and Hills of Forest Creek share something else: celebrated DeSoto Schools.
Parents and kids point to their schools’ recent successes. Last year, their school district’s secondary schools led all of Johnson County in academic performance based on 2013 Kansas assessments in the areas of mathematics and reading.
According to an independent study published by the Kansas City Business Journal last year, DeSoto schools ranked in the top two among all schools in the Kansas City area.
Recreation. Besides great schools, the Hills of Forest Creek and Gleason Glen each feature one-of-a-kind recreational amenities.
In Gleason Glen you’ll discover something you wouldn’t expect to find in the middle of any neighborhood: a well-kept, maintenance-provided city park.
With a footpath encircling it, the treed park includes picnic-worthy greens, benches for relaxing, a shelter for gathering and a play structure with swings for neighborhood kids. Not far away sits a community pool.
The Hills of Forest Creek beckons with a different outdoor amenity: in-community access to Clear Creek Trail. The paved Clear Creek Trail links homeowners directly to one of the city’s longest and most beautiful trails, the scenic 17-mile Mill Creek Streamway Trail. There walkers, joggers, bikers, hikers and even equestrian lovers can enjoy nature nearly year-round.
Custom Homes Ready Now. Perhaps best of all, you don’t have to wait to move into a custom home in either community.
In both communities you can find Rodrock homes within 30 to 90 days from completion. That means you can still pick carpet, tile, lighting and plumbing fixtures in any home, as well as custom paints and stains in most. And with the help of complementary interior design services from Rodrock Homes, you can still move in by fall.
All Rodrock homes feature three-car garages and four bedrooms; many have covered decks for easy relaxing and entertaining, plus flex rooms for office or extra bedroom space.
Two-story, 11/2-story and reverse 11/2-story Rodrock Homes’ plans range from $315,000 to $366,500 in Gleason Glen, and from $325,000 to $425,000 in Hills of Forest Creek.
“I think people are surprised by the affordability of our homes,” said Lacio, who added that now is a good time to buy. For a short time you can also bring your own builder into both communities.
Innovative Models. Finally, it’s easy to see for yourself what affordable yet luxurious living looks like in both the Hills of Forest Creek and Gleason Glen. In each, a fully furnished model home outfitted with the latest interior designs awaits your touring.
Inside you’ll discover how new design materials like marble and glass tile, natural wood flooring, textured wall coverings, industrial-style lighting and an eclectic mix of furnishings set Rodrock Homes’ interiors apart.
Best of all, you can see two model homes within just minutes of each other. Gleason Glen’s Madison floor plan sits near 79th and Kansas 7 in Lenexa, while the Hills of Forest Creek’s Weston III lies near Woodland and Clear Creek Parkway in Shawnee.
