Curtis and Stephanie Woods moved from the suburbs to One Park Place last summer, and quickly began enjoying life in their new home in the heart of Kansas City.

Their spacious 2,800-square-foot two-bedroom, 21/2-bathroom home, which includes a cozy study, affords penthouse-like views of the skyline, spectacular amenities and maintenance-free living.

For the couple, who recently celebrated their marriage with a wedding reception on the plaza level overlooking the twinkling lights of the city, condo living is providing an improvement in their quality of life.

With its location in the center of everything, the couple’s commute to their favorite Kansas City landmarks is minimal. They spend less time driving and more time living — enjoying more time at home together and the ability to quickly drive to some of the city’s finest shopping and restaurants.

The couple first visited One Park Place when they decided to downsize from their large homes. One Park Place had everything they were looking for: an ideal blend of natural, scenic surroundings with sleek, luxurious accommodations and a concierge staff that is unmatched in the city.

As co-founder of the building’s social committee, Stephanie has organized events for all owners — ranging from book club meetings and sporting events to weekly happy hours and cooking classes — to make One Park Place a wonderful place to call “home.”

“The vibrant community here has far exceeded my expectations,” Stephanie said. “The camaraderie between owners is greater than what I experienced in 20 years of single-family, cul-de-sac living.”

From inside their home, the couple is able to entertain clients, family and friends without stepping a foot outside the building. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide the perfect backdrop for intimate gatherings and larger entertaining.

The open floor plan of their dining and living areas, featuring a carefully selected blend of furnishings and fixtures from Nell Hills, Restoration Hardware, Crate and Barrel, and Pottery Barn is both sleek and inviting.

Local artist Dr. Kim Parker’s painting Autumn Woods,” which is a show-stopper in itself, is perfectly situated near the dining area. Made of antique solid reclaimed elm doors and cast metal, the dining table has been paired with upholstered chairs featuring nail-head detail. Eclectic light fixtures and custom wall cabinetry with clean modern lines are found throughout the home, still allowing the breathtaking views and scenery to take center stage.

From inside their kitchen, light shines abundantly on the illuminated surfaces of granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances, along with a granite tile back-splash. Double-compartment stainless steel sinks and energy-efficient stainless steel GE appliances, including refrigerator, microwave oven, gas range, gas oven and dishwasher, complete the space.

Walk-in closets are located in each bedroom and features of the en suite master bathroom include a large soaking tub and shower, granite counter tops, dual sinks, ample drawer space and under-sink storage.

According to Stephanie, their location high above the city also allows them to enjoy the changing seasons without worrying about damage to their home.

“When you’re a homeowner and there’s a storm, you’re always worried about the aftermath: Will the roof be damaged? Are we going to have to clean up after fallen trees or shovel snow in the winter? Here, we can relax, knowing maintenance issues will be taken care of for us,” she said.

“When we leave home, it’s very turn-key,” said Curt. “Knowing we’re going to come home to everything that is just the way we left it gives us peace-of-mind.”

At One Park Place, residents are not only privy to a home tailored to meet their lifestyles, but are also able to enjoy million-dollar amenities.

The lobby level houses a billiards room, an extravagant temperature-controlled wine cellar with private lockers and a tasting room. A beautifully decorated lounge, along with an elegant fireplace, enhances the sitting room and cigar parlor. All homeowners in the building have access to a media lounge equipped with flat-screen televisions, an inviting bar area, a chic demonstration kitchen and spacious party room. Year-round amenities include a virtual indoor driving range and a pet-grooming room.

An on-site, premier fitness area includes a full weight room equipped with the latest cardiovascular machines. An indoor saltwater pool, steam room, mirrored Pilates/yoga studio and a massage room are also available on the lobby level.

A special incentive of six months paid HOA dues is currently being offered to buyers who close before Oct. 31. And, a real estate property tax abatement that will reduce the amount of property taxes payable by approximately 90 percent, representing a substantial, bottom-line benefit for its homeowners is also in place until 2016.
