Crazy about their Halloween costumes
Cameron Collins of Prairie Village was Optimus Prime last year. Dad Eric writes, “This costume would have been far more difficult to build had I not been working for a sign company at the time.” It took him about 40 hours and $50. Materials included rubber doorstops, PVC, football shoulder pads and “lots and lots of duct tape.” He made custom vinyl decals to finish the look.
When it comes to Halloween, Kansas Citians are a creative bunch.
Anyone can buy a costume in a bag. For some folks, this holiday calls for rolling up the sleeves and doing it yourself.
Whether it’s sewing a pattern and adding your own twists; cobbling together things around the house or from the thrift store; or designing and constructing a complicated look featuring foam core board, paint or latex facial appliances, some of our readers go to great lengths.
Happy Halloween!
