It’s “Kansas City Week” on syndicated entertainment show “Dish Nation,” which means viewers are seeing a segment a day with some connection to our fair city.
On Monday, KCK native Eric Stonestreet turned up (he’s promoting his flick “The Loft”), and on Tuesday it was O.P. dude Jason Sudeikis’ turn. He was shown (yes, wearing a KC ballcap) talking to reporters at the Sundance Film Festival. Then the “Dish Nation” hosts chewed the fat over Sudeikis’ reported plan to give fiancee Olivia Wilde a sewing machine for Valentine’s Day — romantic or not?
If you haven’t seen it before, “Dish Nation” is kinda like “Entertainment Tonight” but not as slick. It’s basically radio DJs (on TV!) cracking jokes about the day’s entertainment news and celeb gossip. (It’s shown here at 10:30 p.m. weeknights on KSMO, Channel 62, and at 1:37 a.m. on KCTV-5.)
Never miss a local story.
As for the rest of Kansas City Week:
Wednesday: “Bombshell” Charlotte McKinney, star of the latest (racy) Carl’s Jr. commercial, reveals her star crush. Any guesses? We’re running out of Kansas City celebrities! (See the answer below.) And FYI, “Dish Nation,” we don’t have Carl’s Jr. here, only Hardee’s.
Thursday: Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles is asked what’s special about KC. His response is just two words. Any guesses? See below.
Friday: “No other city has sparked more debate than Kansas City. Is it Missouri or Kansas?” According to “Dish Nation,” that’s the question being asked everywhere except here. KCTV-5 personalities Dave Hall and Alexis Del Cid will clear things up for the national audience and discuss “the latest celebrity news and trends in the Paris of the Plains.”
As for those answers, McKinney loves her some Paul Rudd, Charles said, “Barbecue, man!” and yes, believe it or not, there’s one Kansas City in Missouri and another Kansas City in Kansas.
