KCTV general manager Mike Cukyne has been replaced after nearly three years in the post.
Des Moines-based Meredith Corp. said it named Chuck Poduska vice president and general manager of its Kansas City market stations, KCTV and KSMO.
Poduska most recently has served as vice president of finance for Meredith's Local Media Group, which owns 17 stations covering a dozen markets. He previously had been business manager for KCTV and KSMO and held that post for 15 years.
“I am eager to return to our Kansas City duopoly and use my market knowledge and experience to grow ratings and revenue,” Poduska said in the company’s announcement. “We have a framework for increased success in place, and I look forward to working with the team.”
Meredith said it would seek a successor for Poduska in the finance post.
Cukyne had gained the vice president and general manager titles at the two stations in 2015. He also was senior vice president of digital media with Meredith.
A Meredith spokesman referred questions to the company’s announcement. It did not say why the change was made or whether Cukyne continues in employment with Meredith. Cukyne was not mentioned in the announcement.
Meredith had led the Kansas City market’s digital sales before the promotion to general manager in early 2015.
Previously, Cukyne had worked in the St. Louis market at KMOV for 15 years.
