‘Kinky Boots’ struts off with the most Tony Awards

The feel-good musical “Kinky Boots,” with songs by pop star and Broadway newcomer Cyndi Lauper, won six trophies Sunday at the 67th annual Tony Awards. “A Christmas Story,” which had its world premiere in 2009 at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, lost to “Kinky Boots” for best musical. Lauren Ward, a Hickman Mills High School graduate starring in “Matilda,” lost to Andrea Martin of “Pippin” for best featured actress in a musical.
