Whether you’d want to see “Saving Christmas” depends on if the voice-over in the movie trailer speaks to you — or not. Child-star-turned-evangelical-star Kirk Cameron says:
“Do you ever feel that Christmas has been hijacked? By all the commercialism, or all those people who want to replace ‘Merry Christmas’ with ‘Happy Holidays’ or ‘Seasons Greetings,’ whatever that means. Some want to pull down every manger scene and tell us why all our Christmas traditions are wrong. Isn’t it time somebody spoke up?”
Cameron plays a guy named Kirk, who tries to save his sister’s annual Christmas party from his dour, disillusioned brother-in-law (played by writer/director Darren Doane). He needs to remind him of the reason for the season — the biblical basis of the holiday celebration.
The movie wasn’t screened in advance for critics. Look for a review on KansasCity.com/entertainment.
