Ok, did you love “Point Break” when you saw it in theaters in 1991?
Or did you come to appreciate the developing bromance between FBI agent Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) and surfer/bank robber Bodhi (Patrick Swayze) only years later? Years that allowed you to realize that “Point Break” would be one of Keanu’s best roles? That the crime thriller was about the poetry of surfing just as much as it was about the crime? That Patrick Swayze was more than “Dirty Dancing”?
Either way, there are lots of fans of the original “Point Break,” as evidenced by the release of the “Point Break” remake trailer on Wednesday. Watch.
Scheduled for a Christmas release, this version stars Luke Bracey as Johnny Utah and Edgar Ramirez as Bodhi. And the bad guys aren’t just into extreme surfing and skydiving; they also fly with wing suits, snowboard down sides of mountains, free rock climb and know how to motocross.
Somehow, we guess the bromance and presidents’ masks and poetry get lost in all the extremeness. At least, that’s what “Point Break” fans are fearing.
