Ruth (screenwriter/star Sonja Bennett) is too hung over to remember how to behave at a friend’s baby shower and is exiled from that social circle. But when she is mistaken for being pregnant, she finds she gains respect from family and friends (including James Caan and Danny Trejo). Jacob Tierney directs. Some critics saw it at last fall’s Toronto Film Festival and were’t happy:
▪ Ernest Hardy, Village Voice: “There’s satiric comedy to be mined from the conflicting messages society still sends about pregnancy, motherhood and women’s worth, but the script isn't smart enough to explore them.”
▪ John DeFore, The Hollywood Reporter: “Constructed exactly like a middlebrow studio comedy but lacking the directorial verve that might make it play like one.”
Never miss a local story.
