We did the time warp (again!) by going all-in on a “Rocky Horror” theme for our annual Halloween events guide.
The stars of “The Rocky Horror Show,” a live musical that opens Nov. 2 at Prohibition Hall, 1118 McGee St., posed for Kansas City Star photographer Rich Sugg on Oct. 17 at Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland.
Creative director Nick Padgett, who dons a tight corset as Frank N. Furter in the show, helped organize the photo shoot. Actors Jill Smith (Magenta), Jordan Lankhorst (Riff Raff), Cristina VanSickle (Columbia) and Brighton Gray (Trixie the Usherette) strutted around in rock-inspired costumes made by Francie Kapono-Kuzila and Padgett.
The actors’ theatrical makeup was the work of Kapono-Kuzila, Jacki Butler and Cassie Reeder. Ink interim editor Sarah Gish assisted and posted behind-the-scenes videos on Snapchat (follow us @inkkcmag!).
Want to see the actors in person? The cast will preview several numbers at a Halloween party on Oct. 31. The show, which debuts Nov. 2 and closes Nov. 23, features a live band, a full bar, an afterparty with the actors, and lots of audience interaction. Audience members are encouraged, but not required, to wear costumes. Tickets cost $25; for more info, go to rockyhorrorkc.com.
