It’s official! “Empire” has a new power couple, for reals.
Trai Byers and Grace Gealey — aka Andre Lyon and Anika Calhoun on Fox’s hit show “Empire” — are married.
On Sunday, Byers, of KCK, and Gealey shared the same photo and message on their Instagram accounts.
“We're married! God is so good. To all who have extended congrats and well wishes, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Love, Mr. & Mrs. Byers.”
Over the weekend, TMZ.com reported that the couple got married April 14 in a small ceremony on Grand Cayman Island. The guest list did not include any of their “Empire” co-stars.
In a recent interview for Bleu magazine, Byers impressed the reporter with his humility — when asked where he wanted to sit, Byers answered, “Oh I don’t care man, I’m from Kansas City man, I’d sit on the floor.” — and glowed when asked about his private life.
“I find myself very happy right now. Incredibly happy. God has blessed me immensely with some highs and some lows, some growing pains. It’s about educating me as to what it is that gives Him glory. ... I feel inspired to be an agent of love.”
That same love is evident in his Instagram posts about Gealey, whom he calls a “woman of God.”
Byers, 32, told The Star last year that he still has family living in Kansas, and considers it home.
And in typical “Empire” drama, Byers dispelled rumors in March that he wanted to leave the show. “See you in Season Three!,” he posted on Instagram.
